What is Labyrinth?
Labyrinth is a fantasy movie that was produced by George Lucas, directed by Jim Henson, written by Jim Henson and Dennis Lee and based on the artwork of Terry Jones. It came out in 1986 and unsurprisingly most of the characters were puppets from Jim Henson's workshops. However, the two main characters -- Jareth and Sarah -- were played by two lovely humans. Jennifer Connelly (most recently seen in A Beautiful Mind, Hulk and House of Sand and Fog), but 15 herself at the time of filming, played the character of the young girl Sarah. Opposite her in the role of the child-stealing Goblin King, Jareth, was multi-talented rock star David Bowie (who wrote and composed several songs for the movie).
Labyrinth is a story about growing up and taking responsibility for your actions. When young Sarah, fed up with the treatment of her step-mother and her job of watching her baby brother, impulsively wishes the boy (Toby) be taken away, the Goblin King is more than happy to help. Jareth, having heard her wish sends goblins to take Toby and offers Sarah her dreams in return for her forgetting about her brother. She refuses and must then traverse Jareth's labyrinth in order to get Toby back.
The Labyrinth Soundtrack/OST?
As mentioned above, David Bowie wrote, composed, and performed a number of songs for the film. These included "Undergound," "Magic Dance," "Chilly Down," "As the World Falls Down," and "Within You." The other side of the soundtrack is the stunning and brilliant score devised by Trevor Jones, featured in the tracks "Into the Labyrinth," "Sarah," "Hallucination," "Goblin Battle," "Thirteen O'Clock," and "Home at Last." What is a fanlisting?
The fanlisting concept was thought of by Janine, of seraphic-devil.org. There are hundreds of different fanlistings for people, places, things, concepts, tv shows, movies, and couples. They're individual lists of fans who like that certain subject. If you want to know more, check out the official fanlistings site.
What about the layout?
The site is skinned, so there are five different layout choices at present:
v.1 a land serene, which features the image used on the cover of the album (a blend of all the characters from Labyrinth)
v.2 sum of its parts, which is an altered form of version 1, features the same image from the cover of the album, as well as pieces of lyrics from, and the titles of, all of the songs on the album
v.3 just a fairytale, which features an image of Sarah which I've altered somewhat, from the beginning of the movie when she's reciting the lines from her play
v.4 deep in your eyes, which features images of Jareth and Sarah during the Ballroom scene, where Jareth sings "As the World Falls Down"
v.5 lost and lonely, which features an altered image of the Underground which includes the Labyrinth, the Goblin City and the Castle Beyond the Goblin City
What about the site?
Trying to decide on a site title was difficult -- I wanted to use a bit from one of the songs on the soundtrack, but there are so many good lines that it was hard to choose. I finally settled on Only Forever because of all my choices it seemed to sum up the entire album the best.
